Conducting Job Analysis
Course Number: 33

PHR/GPHR/SPHR Notes:

Compensation costs are the major expense for most organizations; base pay is the largest part of these costs. That’s why cost-effective rational wage structures are vital to an organization’s fiscal health. To establish such a wage structure, an organization must first create a job hierarchy. There are 2 basic steps: analyzing jobs and evaluating those jobs. Course 33: How to Perform Job Analysis will focus on the first step (analyzing jobs). The final product of job analysis (job descriptions) are used in many personnel tasks, including establishing fair hiring and pay practices. Job analysis is a critical tool used by business professionals to make the best hiring and pay decisions for their companies. In addition, job analysis is used for disability and rehabilitation counseling in order to find alternate work for a disabled or laid off employee. Indeed, the final product of job analysis, job descriptions, are used in many personnel tasks, including establishing fair hiring and pay practices. Job analysis is a fundamental, yet underserved, specialty in today’s workforce. Training in this process will help you assist any organization in making the best employment decisions. It will also increase your professional value in today’s marketplace.
