Job and Compensation Analyst (JCA) Notes:
Traditionally, compensation and benefit competitive norms have been the province of corporate analysts, consultants and managers. The Internet is bringing this knowledge to the general populace. Compensation and benefits or "pay practice expense" is the largest single expense category of most clients. On a macro level, these expenditures are important because of their impact on profits. On a micro level, these expenditures set the means of motivation, retention, and attraction of employees. While it could be argued that in the past, little had changed regarding pay practices, the advent of the Internet has destroyed the status quo. Today, most employees have a fair idea of what their job is worth. Business professionals are being asked to deal with pay practice questions that heretofore, although existent, were not visible to most. This course is intended to allow one, as a professional, to address these issues in a meaningful way. A lack of understanding of the economic, sociological, organizational, and now technical conditions influencing pay practice severely affects the internal management (staffing and payroll) of an organization. The knowledge you can gain in this course will provide you with a clear understanding of the issues relating to pay practices, giving you a greater ability to serve an organization.
